1.1 HS-ABC to HS-AB Retrofit Kit
This instruction sheet describes how to install
the HS-ABC to HS-AB Retrofit Kit to the Hammer Strength Hammer Select Abdominal
Crunch.
Tools Required:
- 7 mm Allen wrench
- 17 mm wrench
- Torque wrench
- Rubber mallet

1.1.1 Assembly Procedure
1.1.2 Remove Weldments
- Remove cable end into cam weldment.
- Remove screws and washers securing pads to work arm using a 7mm Allen wrench.
- Remove screws and washers securing counterweight to cam weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench.
- Set pads and counterweight aside for reuse.
- Grab top of tower weldment and tip unit towards weight stack side.
- Remove screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to back support weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Tip unit back down so it rests on foot pads.
- Remove screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to back support weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Remove screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to tower weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Slide rear frame weldment out from under back support weldment.
- Discard old weldments and hardware.
- The unit should now look like the following image.
1.1.3 Install Components to Rear Frame
- Press rubber slippers and triangle warning label onto rear frame.
- Install end caps to rear frame using a rubber mallet.
- Install screws, washers, and locknuts securing bumper to rear frame using 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
1.1.4 Install Weldments
- Align rear frame weldment with tower weldment and back support weldment.
- Install screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to tower weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Install screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to back support weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Grab top of tower weldment and tip unit towards weight stack side.
- Install screws, washers, and locknuts securing rear frame weldment to back support weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Tip unit back down so it rests on foot pads.
- Tighten hardware securing rear frame weldment to back support welment and tower weldment to 20-25 ft-lb / 27-34 Nm.
- Install end cap to cam weldment using a rubber mallet. Slide accordion sleeves and pillow blocks onto cam weldment.
- Place cam weldment shaft into slots on rear frame weldment. Install screws, washers, locknuts and pillow block securing cam weldment to rear frame weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Tighten pillow block set screws to 40-50 in-lb / 4.5-5.6 Nm.
- Install screws and locknuts securing workarm weldment to pillow blocks on cam weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Tighten pillow block set screws to 40-50 in-lb / 4.5-5.6 Nm.
- Install screws, washers, spacer washers, shafts, spacers, and locknuts securing linkage to cam weldment and workarm weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench and 17mm wrench.
- Install screws and washers securing counterweight to cam weldment using a 7mm Allen wrench.
- Install screws and washers securing pads to work arm using a 7mm Allen wrench.
- Route cable from weight stack to cam weldment.
- Install cable end into cam weldment.










Tighten hardware to 8-10 ft-lb / 10.8-13.5 Nm.


Hand tighten hardware.
