Chapter 1: Getting Started

1.1: Safety Instructions

Owner of the equipment is responsible for providing the users of the equipment with all warnings and instructions.

Caution: Any changes or modifications to this equipment could void the product warranty.
Warning: To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury, it is imperative to connect each product to a properly grounded electrical outlet.
Warning: To prevent injury, this product must be securely attached in accordance with the installation instructions.
Danger: To reduce the risk of electrical shock or injury from moving parts, always unplug product before cleaning or attempting any maintenance activity.
  • Life Fitness does not warrant nor guarantee that component parts used in the manufacture of products offered under the Life Fitness brand are latex-free. Users of these products must take all necessary precautions to prevent accidental contact that could lead to an adverse latex reaction.
  • Never operate the product if it has a damaged power cord or electrical plug, or if it has been dropped, damaged, or even partially immersed in water. Contact Customer Support Services.
  • Position the product so that the power cord plug to the wall is accessible to the user. Make sure that the power cord is not knotted or twisted and that it is not trapped under any equipment or other objects.
  • Keep the power cord away from heated surfaces. Do not pull the equipment by the power cord or use the cord as a handle.
  • If the electrical supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorized service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.
  • Always follow the product instructions for proper operation.

1.2: Antenna Grounding

Note to the CATV Installer:

This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building as close to the point of cable entry as practical.

1.5: Select Input Source

  1. Press INPUT button to display the input source list.
  2. Press / or OK button to select the input source you want to.

1.6: First Time Installation

Connect an RF cable from the “RF-IN” to your TV aerial socket.

Press / button to select the language to be used for menus and message.

Auto Tuning
  1. First tuning ATV, press Menu and left arrow button to skip ATV tuning.

Chapter 2: Operation

2.1: Quick Reference - TV Menu Access

LIFE FITNESS recommends programming the 15” Attachable TV by using an IR TV Remote.

The TV can also be programmed by using an attachable LF TV REMOTE if on the order (for Achieve consoles) and through an Integrity, Inspire or Discover SI console. Please follow the guidelines below to program the TV. The password key on Life Fitness TVs is always 0000.

If you are unable to follow the guidelines above, do not have an IR TV REMOTE, or if there are any other issues with the 15” Attachable TV please promptly report the issue to Life Fitness Customer Support Services.

2.2: Basic Functions of LF TV Remote

Basic Functions

Turn the power on by pressing the ON/OFF key (1) on the remote control. A blue LED appears on the lower right corner of the TV when the power is on. The LED blinks during SLEEP mode (the back light will be off).

Press the POWER key (1) and hold for 5 seconds to access the Setup Menu.

Use the RIGHT VOLUME key (2) and LEFT VOLUME key (3) to adjust volume. The RIGHT VOLUME key (2) increases volume. The LEFT VOLUME key (3) decreases volume. A volume indicator will appear on the console while the volume is being adjusted. The volume indicator will disappear after approximately 20 seconds of inactivity.

Use the RIGHT VOLUME key (2) to select a menu option. Use the LEFT VOLUME key (3) to go backwards through menu options. Channels can be selected by using the NUMERIC KEYPAD (4) or by scrolling up or down through available channels by pressing the UP and DOWN channel arrow keys (5).

Press the CLOSED CAPTION (CC) key (7) to turn the closed caption on/off.

Press the MUTE key (8) to mute the sound.

The PREVIOUS key (9) can be used to select the channel viewed immediately prior to the current channel. Repeatedly pressing the PREVIOUS key can be used to toggle between two channels.

Note: The PREVIOUS key (9) acts as the - when entering channels. Example: Press 5 ⇒ PREVIOUS key ⇒ 1 , to enter 5-1 as the channel.

Headphones are necessary to hear any volume adjustments. Plug headphones into the HEADPHONE JACK (6) located on the side of the remote control.

Within Set-Up Menus

Use the RIGHT VOLUME key (2) to select a menu option. Use the LEFT VOLUME key (3) to go backwards through menu options.

Use the CC key (7) to select menu options.

Use the CC key (7) as the ENTER function when selecting channels.

Note: The Achieve™ console with Attachable TV includes the LF TV Remote. The Attachable TV System for new or previously purchased Life Fitness silver/gray commercial cardio machines includes the LF TV Remote.

Programming is easier with the optional IR TV Remote. Contact Life Fitness to order one or more IR TV Remote controls if desired.

Press again to unmute (or press VOL+).
3 Number Buttons Press 0 - 9 to select a TV Channel directly.
4 Channel buttons

Press this button to enter a specific channel number.

Return to previous channel viewed.
5 Volume / Channel / Configuration

Volume Press to increase or decrease sound level.

Channel Press to scan through channels. To scan quickly press and hold down either buttons.

Audio Press to view audio languages.

Auto Press to do auto configuration directly.

Display Press to display the source and channel information.
6 Navigation

Thumbstick buttons

Allows navigation of the OSD menus and adjustment of settings to your preference.

Enter Press to enter sub menus and make selections.
7 Exit Press to exit out of OSD menu.
8 Menu Press to display OSD menus (Channel, Picture, Sound, Time, Lock, Hotel, Setup).

Input Press to cycle through the available input sources (TV, AV, S-Video, PC, HDMI).

PMODE Press repeatedly to cycle through available picture modes (Dynamic, Standard, Mild, Personal).

SMODE Press to cycle through available sound settings (Standard, Music, Movie, Sports, Personal).

Sleep Select the amount of time in minutes before your TV automatically turns off.

Subtitle Turn ON / OFF subtitles.

FAV Press to view Favorite Channel List.

FAV + Press to add a channel to Favorite List.

2.3.1: Install Batteries

Two 1.5V-AAA batteries are included and necessary for operation.
  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back side.
    Open cover Install batteries Close cover
  2. Insert two 1.5 V AAA size batteries in correct polarity.
    Important: Do not mix old or used batteries with old ones.
  3. Close the cover

Point the remote towards the remote control sensor of the wireless TV and use it within 23' (7 m).

Note: Put the used batteries into the recycle bin since it can negatively affect the environment.

Chapter 3: Configuration

3.1: Channel Menu ATV/DTV

ATV/DTV Source
  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select CHANNEL in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the CHANNEL menu.
  4. Press Enter button to adjust.
  5. After finishing your adjustment, Press Enter button to save and return to the previous menu.
Auto Tuning

Press / button to select Auto Tuning, then press Enter / button to enter.

ATV Manual Tuning
Current CH Set the channel number.
Color System Select the color system (Available System: AUTO,PAL , SECAM)
Sound System Select the Sound system
Fine-Tune Adjust the frequency of the channel finely.
Search Start searching channel.
DTV Manual Tuning
  1. Press / button to select DTV Manual Tuning, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select channel, then press Enter button to search program.
Program Edit

Press / button to select Program Edit, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.

The three colored key is the shortcut key for programming the channel.

First press / to highlight the channel you want to select, then:

  1. Press the Red button to delete the program in the list.
  2. Press the Yellow button to move the channel in favorite list.
  3. Press the Blue button to skip the selected channel.
  4. Press Fav button to add or remote the channel to your favorite list.

(Your TV set will skip the channel automatically when using CH+/- to view the channels.)

Signal Information
  1. Press / button to select Signal Information.
  2. Press the Enter button to see the detail information about the signal. Only available when there is signal in DTV.

3.2: Channel Menu Satellite Source

Auto Tuning
  1. Press / button to select Auto Tuning, then press Enter / button to enter.
  2. Press MENU button to call out the main menu.
  3. Highlight Channel using navigation buttons and press OK to enter.
  4. Highlight Auto Tuning and press OK to enter.
Country: Select your country.
Satellite: Select an available satellite.
Scan Mode: Select your scan mode.
Channel Type: Select a channel type.
Service Type: Select a service type.
Dish Setup
  1. Press / button to select Dish Setup. Press Enter / button to enter.
  2. Press MENU button to call out the main menu.
  3. Highlight Channel using navigation buttons and press OK to enter it.
  4. Highlight Dish Setup and press OK to enter it.
  5. Press LEFT/RIGHT navigation button to highlight Left, Middle, or Right column.
  6. Press EXIT button to return.
A. When the Satellite (Left) column is highlighted:
  1. Press Yellow button to enter Add menu.
    Satellite Name Press RIGHT navigation button to enter rename page. Use navigation buttons to complete a new name.
    Longitude Direction Press LEFT/RIGHT navigation button to select desired option.
    Longitude Angle Press LEFT/RIGHT navigation button to move the cursor and press number buttons on remote control to input desired value.
    Band Press LEFT/RIGHT navigation button to select desired option.
  2. Press Green button on remote control to enter Edit menu. The operations of Edit menu are the same as Add menu.

3.3: Picture Menu

  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select PICTURE in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the PICTURE menu.
  4. Press OK button to adjust.
  5. After finishing your adjustment, Press MENU button to save and return back to the previous menu.
Picture Mode
  1. Press / button to select Picture Mode.
  2. Press OK button to enter sub-menu.

You can change the value of contrast, brightness, color, sharpness and tint when the picture is in Personal mode.

Tip: You can press PMODE button to change the Picture Mode directly.
Contrast/ Brightness/ Color/ Tint / Sharpness

Press / button to select option, then press / button to adjust.

Contrast
Adjust the highlight intensity of the picture, but the shadow of the picture is invariable.
Brightness
Adjust the optical fiber output of the entire picture, it will effect the dark region of the picture.
Color
Adjust the saturation of the color based on your own like.
Tint
Use in compensating color changed with the transmission in the NTSC code.
Sharpness
Adjust the peaking in the detail of the picture.
Color Temp

Change the overall color cast of the picture.

  1. Press / button to select Color Temperature , then press OK button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select. (Available Picture mode: Cold, Normal, Warm).
Cold
Increase the blue tone for the white.
Normal
Default color temperature.
Warm
Increase the red color for the white.
Noise Reduction

To filter out and reduces the image noise and improve picture quality.

  1. Press / button to select Noise Reduction.
  2. Press OK button to enter sub-menu.
Off
Select to turn off video noise detection.
Low
Detect and reduce low video noise.
Middle
Detect and reduce moderate video noise.
High
Detect and reduce enhanced video noise.
Default
Set as Default.

3.4: Sound Menu

  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select SOUND in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the SOUND menu.
  4. Press Enter button to adjust.
  5. After finishing your adjustment, Press Enter button to save and return back to the previous menu.
Sound Mode
  1. Press / button to select Sound Mode, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select.

You can change the value of Treble and Bass when the sound is in Personal mode.

Tip: You can press SMODE button on the remote control to change the Sound Mode directly.
Standard
Produces a balanced sound in all environments.
Music
Preserves the original sound. Good for musical programs.
Movie
Enhances treble and bass for a rich sound experience.
Sports
Enhances vocals for sports.
Personal
Select to customize picture settings.
Note: The treble and bass are only available in User mode,you can adjust them as you like.
Balance
Press / button to select option, Press / button to adjust.
Note: This item can adjust the speaker’s output, it enables you to listen to best at your position.
Auto Volume level
Press / button to select Auto Volume Level, then press / button to select On or Off.
Note: This item is used for reducing the difference between channel and program’s volume automatically.
SPDIF Mode
Press / button to select SPDIF Mode, then press / button to select Off / PCM / Auto.
AD Switch
Press / button to select AD Switch, then press / button to select On or Off. Amblyopia function for the blind, the tracks will be mixed describe the current screen . It need codestream to support.

3.5: Time Menu

  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select TIME in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the TIME menu.
  4. Press Enter button l to adjust.
  5. After finishing your adjustment, Press Enter button to save and return to the previous menu.
Time Zone
  1. Press / button to select Time Zone, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / / / button to select time zone.
Sleep Timer
  1. Press / button to select Sleep Timer, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select. (Available options are: Off, 10 min, 20 min, 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 120 min, 180 min, 240 min).
Auto Standby
  1. Press / button to select Auto Standby, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select.
Tip: The remote control does not make any operation in the hypothesis time, it will close down automatically. If you do any operation, it will reset the time.
OSD Timer
  1. Press / button to select OSD Timer, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu.
  2. Press / button to select.

3.6: Lock Menu

  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select Lock in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the LOCK SYSTEM menu.
  4. Press Enter / / button to adjust.
  5. After finishing your adjustment, Press MENU button to return back to the previous menu.
Lock System
  1. Press / button to select Lock System.
  2. Press Enter button to make the following 3 options valid.

Default password is 0000, and if forget what you set, please call the service center.

Set Password
  1. Press / button to select Set Password.
  2. Press Enter button to enter sub-menu to set new password.
Channel Lock
  1. Press / button to select Channel Lock.
  2. Press Enter button to enter sub-menu to select.
  3. Press Green button lock or unlock the channel.
Parental Guidance
  1. Press / button to select Parental Guidance.
  2. Press Enter button to enter sub-menu to select the number of age which is suitable for your children.
Key Lock
  1. Press / button to select Off or On.
  2. Press / button to select.

When Key Lock’s statue is on, you can’t use the Key panel button.

3.7: Hotel Mode

  1. Press / button on the remote control to select hotel mode in the Lock menu.
  2. Press Enter button on the remote control to enter the sub-menu.
  3. After finishing your adjustment, Press MENU button to save and return back to the previous menu.
Hotel Mode Press / button to select Hotel Mode, then press / button to select on or off.
Source Lock Press / button to select Source Lock, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu to select.
Default Source Press / button to select Default Source, then press Enter button to enter sub-menu to select.
Default Prog Press / button to select Default Prog, then press / button to adjust. It is available when the default source is TV.
Max Volume Press / button to select Max Volume, then press / button to adjust.
Import Database We can import parameter of Audio/Channel/Lock/Setup from USB disk. Insert USB disk, choose Import Database and press Enter to import.
Export Database We can export parameter of Audio/Channel/Lock/Setup to USB disk. Insert USB disk, choose Export Database and press Enter to Export .
Clear Lock Press / button to select Clear Lock, then press Enter button to clear the setting you have done before.

3.8: Setup Menu

  1. Press MENU button to display the main menu.
  2. Press / button to select SETUP in the main menu.
  3. Press / button to select the option that you want to adjust in the SETUP menu.

Chapter 4: Maintenance and Troubleshooting

The Life Fitness Attachable TV System requires little maintenance and has been designed to withstand the environment of a fitness facility. However, please review our suggestions on cleaning and troubleshooting your Life Fitness Attachable TV System.

4.1: Cleaning

Regularly (at least once a week) clean the Life Fitness Attachable TV and cardio equipment using mild soap and water. Lightly dampen a soft clean cloth with the mild soap and water solution and wipe the product. Do not use too much solution on the cloth and do not spray or pour any solution directly on the products. Doing so could cause damage to the LCD panel or remote controls.

Caution: Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners to clean the screen. Do not use any solvents such as alcohol and paint thinner or acidic cleaners.

4.2: Approved and Compatible Cleaners

Two preferred cleaners have been approved by reliability experts: PureGreen 24 and Gym Wipes. Both cleaners will safely and effectively remove dirt, grime and sweat from equipment. PureGreen 24 and the Antibacterial Force formula of Gym Wipes are both disinfectants that are effective against MRSA and H1N1.

PureGreen 24 is available in a spray which is convenient for gym staff to use. Apply the spray to a microfiber cloth and wipe down the equipment. Use PureGreen 24 on the equipment for at least 2 minutes for general disinfection purposes and at least 10 minutes for fungus and viral control.

Gym Wipes are large, durable pre-moistened wipes to use on the equipment before and after workouts. Use Gym Wipes on the equipment for at least 2 minutes for general disinfection purposes.

Mild soap and water or a mild non-abrasive household cleaner can also be used to clean the display and all exterior surfaces. Use a soft microfiber cloth only. Apply the cleaner to the microfiber cloth before cleaning. DO NOT use ammonia or acid based cleaners. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. DO NOT use paper towels. DO NOT apply cleaners directly to the equipment surfaces.

4.3: Troubleshooting

If you are having a problem with your TV, try the suggestions below and on the next several pages. If the problem persists, contact Life Fitness Customer Support Services as outlined in the front of this manual.

Problem Possible Solutions
Reset the TV to factory settings. Refer to the Setup Menu for instruction on how to access the Reset option.
No picture, no sound

Make sure the power cord is plugged in.

Be sure the power is on by pressing the on/off button on the remote control.

Choose an alternate channel using the channel up/down arrow keys.
Poor or no picture, good sound

Refer to the Picture Menu. Adjust the options as instructed to improve the picture quality.

Check the antenna and/or cable connections. Have your service provider confirm that the signal level at the machine is 72 dBuV + / - 25 dB. This is equivalent to +12 dBmV, and includes the range of -13 dBmV to +37dBmV. These levels are acceptable for both analog and digital TV signals.
Only snow appears on the screen

Check the antenna and/or cable connections.

Make sure the channel selected is currently broadcasting.

Confi rm the correct Air/Cable option is selected. Refer to the Channel Menu.
Dotted lines or stripes

Adjust the antenna.

Move the TV away from other electronic equipment. Some electronic equipment creates electrical noise, which can interfere with TV reception.
Double images or ghosts Check your outdoor antenna or call your cable service.
Unable to switch to a particular

Confirm the correct Air/Cable option is selected. Refer to the Channel Menu.

Perform a Scan Channel or add a channel manually. Refer to the Channel Menu.
Screen does not turn on

Check the power supply for 12 volts DC and replace if faulty.

Remove the remote and test it against a working unit. Replace if faulty.

Channels do not change

Replace cables, connectors, outlets, and splitters with high quality components, Quad Shield coaxial cables, and “F” connectors.

4.4: Advanced Troubleshooting

If the picture regularly breaks up, then the signal received may be too weak or too strong to allow the digital TV receiver to generate a stable picture.

Have your service provider confirm that the signal level at the machine is 72 dBuV + / - 25 dB. This is equivalent to +12 dBmV, and includes the range of -13 dBmV to +37dBmV. These levels are acceptable for both analog and digital TV signals.

If signal levels are not OK, you are unlikely to have good reception unless signal strength can be improved. Antenna relocation or changes to your amplifi ers (masthead or distribution) may be indicated.

Remember amplifiers should only be used by your installer to provide the minimum necessary boost to signal strength.

Interference from impulse noise may be causing pictures to break up and audio to drop out momentarily.

Check for domestic sources of impulse noise (i.e. the use of light switches, fridges, hair dryers, air conditioner, etc.).

If present, arrange for all cables, connectors, outlets and splitters between the antenna and the receiver to be upgraded in accordance with antenna installation guidelines. Recommends the use of quad shielded coaxial cable and F connectors.

A masthead amplifier may have boosted the signal outside the receiver’s “operating window”, making reception impossible.

The masthead amplifier (appears as a small box on the antenna pole within about a meter of the antenna arms) may be able to be turned down. If your antenna is on your roof you should arrange for an antenna installer to perform this task.

When digital broadcasting services begin operating in an area some masthead amplifiers (boosters) operating at maximum output or maximum gain may need to be turned down to avoid signal overload for digital receivers. This matter should be determined by an antenna installer, who will be able to adjust the amplifier for you.

Please note that performing this operation may affect any existing analog signals, so you MAY need to find a medium point between adequate analog reception and good digital reception.

4.5: Replace headphone jack on the wired remote control

Check the headphone jack when you cannot hear audio or the audio quality is poor. The headphone jack is designed to be easily and quickly replaced in the facility.
  1. Take out headphone jack.
  2. Disconnect audio cable.
  3. Slide the stereo plug on the audio cable in the new headphone jack.
  4. Replace the headphone jack.
Important: Do not stretch, crimp or damage the cable. Cables damaged by improper installation will not be covered by the warranty.

4.6: Service

Any service, other than cleaning or user maintenance, must be performed by an authorized service representative.

Important: Do not attempt to service any of the Attachable TV System products except the service described in this manual.

4.7: Returning Equipment to Life Fitness

To return equipment to Life Fitness for any reason, you must contact Life Fitness to obtain a return maintenance authorization (RMA) number (see page one for contact information).When you request an RMA number, please explain why you are returning the equipment.

Important: Equipment must be shipped with an RMA number in order for Life Fitness to process the return.

Chapter 5: Warranty

5.1: What is Covered

This Life Fitness commercial exercise equipment product is warranted to be free of all defects in material and workmanship.

5.2: Who is Covered

The original purchaser or any person receiving the product as a gift from the original purchaser.

5.3: How long it is covered

All coverage is provided by specific Product according to the guidelines listed on the chart below.

5.4: Who Pays Transportation and Insurance For Service

If the Product or any covered part must be returned to a service facility for repairs, We, Life Fitness , will pay all transportation and insurance charges for the first year. You are responsible for transportation and insurance charge after the first year.

5.5: What We Will Do To Correct Covered Defects

We will ship to you any new or rebuilt replacement part or component, or at our option, replace the Product. Such replacement parts are warranted for the remaining portion of the original warranty period.

5.6: What is Not Covered

Any failures or damage caused by unauthorized service, misuse, accident, negligence, improper assembly or installation, debris resulting from any construction activities in the Product’s environment, rust or corrosion as a result of the Product’s location, alterations or modifications without our written authorization, or by failure on your part to use, operate and maintain the Product as set out in your Operation Manual.

All terms of this warranty are void if this product is moved beyond the continental borders of the United States of America (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Canada) and are then subject to the terms provided by that country’s local authorized Life Fitness representative.

5.7: What You Must Do

Retain proof of purchase. Use, operate and maintain the Attachable TV as specified in the Manual; notify the place of purchase of any defect within 10 days after discovery of the defect; if instructed, return any defective part for replacement or, if necessary, the entire Product for repair. reserves the right to decide whether or not a product is to be returned for repair.

5.8: How To Get Parts And Service

Refer to Customer Service chapter of this manual for your local service contact information. Reference your name, address and the serial number of your Attachable TV . They will tell you how to get a replacement part, or, if necessary, arrange for service where your Attachable TV is located.

5.9: Exclusive Warranty

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ALL OTHER OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES ON OUR PART. We neither assume nor authorize any person to assure for us any other obligation or liability concerning the sale of this Product. Under no circumstances shall we be liable under this warranty, or otherwise, of any damage to any person or property, including any lost profits or lost savings, for any special, indirect, secondary, incidental or consequential damages of any nature arising out of the use of or inability to use this Product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. Warranty coverages and terms may differ outside the United States. Please contact the Life Fitness office servicing your country (contact information found at the front of this manual) or visit the applicable local Life Fitness website to receive the specific warranty information for your country.

5.10: Changes in Warranty Not Authorized

No one is authorized to change, modify or extend the terms of this limited warranty.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state and country by country.
